How green is your school, office, or home?
Sponsored by One Million Acts of Green brought to you by Cisco. My daughter and I have recycled for years, but recently she has been reading a lot and studying up on ways to do more. So, we have bought us several reusable bags, for grocery shopping- and we no longer use the store bags. We have started using cleaners in our home that are "Green" cleaners, We have new reusable water bottles, that hold 20 ounces each, we fill these when we go out for a walk/ jog and this helps. We reuse plastic containers from the store, the come in handy for storing rubber-bands, paper clips, loose change, etc. You can even save yogurt cups and start seeds in them, and get your garden off to a start in the house, we did that this year- yogurt cups are just the right size for this. We are growing some tomatoes, basil, parsley, and sunflowers this year- We'll have to work out a built up garden space for more things next year, since we live in a townhouse. We buy locally grown produce from a neighbor across the road from us and at local Farmer's Markets, I think we should all do that or try to grow some of our own produce. My sister and I call each other and try to arrange to go places at the same time,
so we can go together, that way we are saving gas. We usually cook enough dinner at night that we'll have enough for the next days lunch, so that cuts down on electricity. And we use those compact Flourescent spiral energy saving light bulbs all through the house now. We keep the lights off during the day, keep the air filter in the house changed once a month, and all of us turn the water off while we are brushing our teeth, until we're ready to rinse
We also use a water saving shower-head in the shower to cut down on water use & have water saving toilets LOL!!!
There's probably more, but it's getting late and I'm going to turn in for the night.
Have a great weekend everyone!
this past Saturday Night. They were really great, these teens have worked so hard all year
and have practiced and practiced. It really paid off at Saturday nights performance, they gave
the best show they had all year. My niece- Madison- did a solo also, she did great! They all
did! I thought I would share a few photos we got of the show with you all.
My niece Madison was invited to the Prom by her friend Josh, they attended on Saturday Night. They had a great time with all of their friends. Of course, the moms took lots of pictures, so i thought I would share some of them with you.
My sister, my niece and her friend, my nephew, and my daughter and I went to the local park recently, to spend some time together outside, and just enjoy exploring a creek I had found and wanted to share with them. It's one of my new favorite places. Here are some photos from our outing. We had a great time, we acted like a bunch of kids climbing on the rocks, and walking all along the creek, we stayed about two and a half hours. This is definitely a good way to feel young again, LOL!!!
My niece Madison is the one who plays in the Trinity High School Marching Band. Madison is the one who plays the saxophone, guitar, piano, and now plays drums, also. Madison never wears a dress, she even wears pants to church, because her church let's everyone dress casual. So, it was a real treat to see her try on the prom dress she got to wear to the prom. She was invited by a boy who is sweet on her. So, I thought I would share the photo of her in her prom dress we took.
I just finished reading the book- "The Shack'. This book has had the most wonderful effect on me, I have
never had a fiction book that had such a powerful message as this one about-- how truly close of a relationship we can really have with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. If you aren't as close to Them as your best friend--I urge you to read this book, I promise you, you won't be sorry.
It's Spring, I'm going to be off-line for a while. I'm going to take some time to work on strengthening my mind, body and spirit. I hope you all have a wonderful Spring. I wanted to leave you with this:
We can give to God...
our ways for His wisdom,
our plans for His purposes,
our weaknesses for His strength,
our needs for His provision,
our fears for His promises,
our pressures for His peace,
our worries for His rest.

BIBLE MEDITATION:
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee." Psalm 55:22
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
There was a man carrying a heavy load of grain down a country road.
Another man in a horse-drawn wagon saw him and said, "Mister, do you
need a ride?" So the man walking got in the wagon, but he kept the load
of grain on his shoulder. The wagon driver said, "Man, put that down
and relax!" But the man answered, "Oh no. It's enough to ask you to
carry me without having you carry this also." Have you ever done that
to the Lord? You say, "Lord, I'll let You save me, but I'll carry my
own burdens." How foolish we are to do this with the God who hung the
stars and planets.
ACTION POINT:
If you can trust the Lord to save you from hell, don't you think you can cast your burden upon Him right now?
Have a Blessed week.
Well, my daughter hasn't been feeling well, and Friday night she was having breathing problems and chest pain very frequently. So, she finally decided to let me take her to the Emergency Room. Friday night- we arrived at the E.R. & I grab a wheelchair and wheel her in, I tell the folks- she's having breathing problems and chest pains, take her while I go park. Then, when I finally get back in, they have already taken her back to do an E.K.G. and they tell me I can go back with her, they've already checked her blood pressure,
temperature, and O2 levels. They decide to keep her a while and hook her up to heart monitors, and take blood, urine, and do a CT scan. ( She has Tachocardia, she was born with this- and she takes meds. every day to keep her heart rate from going wacho)-- but, it was very wacho Friday night. They monitored her for hours, and waited for the doctor to read the CT scan, and they came in and told us she was NOT in any immediate danger, and to make an appointment with her cardiologist the first of the week. She was feeling a little better yesterday, so that made us all feel a lilttle better.
On Saturday, my sisters and I had been planning to get together with the kids and all meet at Chucky Cheese in Winston Salem to hang out, let the kids play and we would all visit since one of my sisters lives in Pinnacle, an hour away- that way we were meeting half way. Wow, we couldn't believe it! Usually when we plan something, half the time- one of us has to cancel, but not only did we go- but, 3 sets of our friends came and brought theirs kids. We got there- and (Crap- It's Saturday people!) There were people standing outside waiting to get in- it was cold and raining, we had to wait an hour to get in the place and get tables for us all. Poor guy working there, he was trying to get people out- the same way people were coming in- and he was telling folks-"You sure you want to wait, It's going to be a long wait?" Finally, when we got our tables- the kids took off to go play, all of us grown-ups settled in for a great visit and lots of laughs, pizza, wings, catching up on each others lives, and hugging the kids. The kids ran back and forth between eating,
playing, and getting lots of attention from us all.
As, we got ready to leave, we all said our good-byes, and I had came with my sister- Marcia and her family,
we all decide to go over to Hanes Mall for a while. We walked around the mall, and my niece- Madison, got her a new pair of pants to wear in the band at her High School. My nephew, Austin, found a shirt he had been wanting, it was a Mario Brothers shirt- with the - ( Plus One) on it in words and the square that's on the game. My sister and I just window shopped, and *got our walking in for the day*LOL!!! We got home about 11p.m. we were all tired, and smiling too- we had a great Saturday filled with family and friends.
On Sunday, we slept in late. It sleeted all day, we had a late breakfast, some hot coffee and I watched the sleet come down. My daughter and I had to get out and go to the Pharmacy and the grocery store, so we went before the weather got to bad. Late On Sunday it started snowing, it snowed all night, I sat up and drank coffee and watched it snowing out the window while listening to some good music. The snow was beautiful, it was pouring down, the wind was blowing- it made the snow just, dance and swirl around. It was late, the snow had already covered everything in a blanket, it was so quite when I decided step out the door to look at the snow- it's so peaceful when it comes a heavy snow, things come to a stop, it's silent, I
love it when it first falls, and no one has been out on it yet, it's night and it's still completely deep white, Fluffy as a cloud, totally silent, still pouring down, It gives me a calming feeling.
It's Monday morning now, it snowed all night. It is really beautiful hanging in the trees this morning and covering everything. It looks like we have about 5 inches of snow on the ground. Did I tell You- *I love snow!!!*I'm just hanging out here at home this morning, looking outside at the snow, and having some hot coffee.

Show us your favorite gadget. The Showtime Rotisserie & BBQ Oven- I really use this thing all the time. I can get all
kinds of rotisserie seasonings at the store- get a whole chicken, shake the seasoning all over it, put it in the oven, cook that chicken 1 hour and I have one great chicken for dinner.
All good ways indeed... I like the grocery bags, but often forget to bring them... D'oh... read more
