My sister, my niece and her friend, my nephew, and my daughter and I went to the local park recently, to spend some time together outside, and just enjoy exploring a creek I had found and wanted to share with them. It's one of my new favorite places. Here are some photos from our outing. We had a great time, we acted like a bunch of kids climbing on the rocks, and walking all along the creek, we stayed about two and a half hours. This is definitely a good way to feel young again, LOL!!!
Well, my daughter hasn't been feeling well, and Friday night she was having breathing problems and chest pain very frequently. So, she finally decided to let me take her to the Emergency Room. Friday night- we arrived at the E.R. & I grab a wheelchair and wheel her in, I tell the folks- she's having breathing problems and chest pains, take her while I go park. Then, when I finally get back in, they have already taken her back to do an E.K.G. and they tell me I can go back with her, they've already checked her blood pressure,
temperature, and O2 levels. They decide to keep her a while and hook her up to heart monitors, and take blood, urine, and do a CT scan. ( She has Tachocardia, she was born with this- and she takes meds. every day to keep her heart rate from going wacho)-- but, it was very wacho Friday night. They monitored her for hours, and waited for the doctor to read the CT scan, and they came in and told us she was NOT in any immediate danger, and to make an appointment with her cardiologist the first of the week. She was feeling a little better yesterday, so that made us all feel a lilttle better.
On Saturday, my sisters and I had been planning to get together with the kids and all meet at Chucky Cheese in Winston Salem to hang out, let the kids play and we would all visit since one of my sisters lives in Pinnacle, an hour away- that way we were meeting half way. Wow, we couldn't believe it! Usually when we plan something, half the time- one of us has to cancel, but not only did we go- but, 3 sets of our friends came and brought theirs kids. We got there- and (Crap- It's Saturday people!) There were people standing outside waiting to get in- it was cold and raining, we had to wait an hour to get in the place and get tables for us all. Poor guy working there, he was trying to get people out- the same way people were coming in- and he was telling folks-"You sure you want to wait, It's going to be a long wait?" Finally, when we got our tables- the kids took off to go play, all of us grown-ups settled in for a great visit and lots of laughs, pizza, wings, catching up on each others lives, and hugging the kids. The kids ran back and forth between eating,
playing, and getting lots of attention from us all.
As, we got ready to leave, we all said our good-byes, and I had came with my sister- Marcia and her family,
we all decide to go over to Hanes Mall for a while. We walked around the mall, and my niece- Madison, got her a new pair of pants to wear in the band at her High School. My nephew, Austin, found a shirt he had been wanting, it was a Mario Brothers shirt- with the - ( Plus One) on it in words and the square that's on the game. My sister and I just window shopped, and *got our walking in for the day*LOL!!! We got home about 11p.m. we were all tired, and smiling too- we had a great Saturday filled with family and friends.
On Sunday, we slept in late. It sleeted all day, we had a late breakfast, some hot coffee and I watched the sleet come down. My daughter and I had to get out and go to the Pharmacy and the grocery store, so we went before the weather got to bad. Late On Sunday it started snowing, it snowed all night, I sat up and drank coffee and watched it snowing out the window while listening to some good music. The snow was beautiful, it was pouring down, the wind was blowing- it made the snow just, dance and swirl around. It was late, the snow had already covered everything in a blanket, it was so quite when I decided step out the door to look at the snow- it's so peaceful when it comes a heavy snow, things come to a stop, it's silent, I
love it when it first falls, and no one has been out on it yet, it's night and it's still completely deep white, Fluffy as a cloud, totally silent, still pouring down, It gives me a calming feeling.
It's Monday morning now, it snowed all night. It is really beautiful hanging in the trees this morning and covering everything. It looks like we have about 5 inches of snow on the ground. Did I tell You- *I love snow!!!*I'm just hanging out here at home this morning, looking outside at the snow, and having some hot coffee.
fluufy looking
music gal in the family. She is a real sweet girl.
My nieces & nephews really bring a lot of joy and laughter into my life. I don,t have a photo
of Austin, I'll put one up later. I enjoy spending time with them & going to their school programs.
This is how we spent our Thanksgiving Last Sunday, we celebrated early at my sister, Marcia"s house. We
all had a nice dinner together, made a pot of coffee, and decided to shoot some pool. The first photo is of my nephew, Austin sitting on the pool table- he's a hoot! The second photo is my sister showing her niece,
Samantha how to shoot pool, she is the cutest little girl, and she talks like a pixy/fairy- she takes ballet, and is a little dancer. The 3rd photo is my daughter, Samantha, and myself. The 4th photo is of my sister and myself. The 5th photo is Austin in his- pimp daddy hat,LOL!!! That's what my daughter laughs and calls it. And, the last photo is of my niece, Maddie- the guitar/piano/ and saxophone player. We spent the whole day together and had the best time/ I love my family and spending time with them, they are the greatest.
On Thursday morning- Thanksgiving, my SIL brought my sweet MIL -Kate by on her way up to Virginia to stay and visit us for a few days. We have been having a really nice visit. My daughter- Jenni, fixed us a large roasted chicken, twice baked sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, rolls, & brownies for dinner. We all ate, talked, reminisced, and just had a good old time. Later we watched movies, we watched- "The Bucket List", and "Click" last night- had some coffee and hung out together.
This morning, we all slept in, then had breakfast together and sat around talking and visiting. Later, we all decided we wanted Barbecue for dinner , so my daughter and I ran out and picked up some Barbecue from our favorite Barbecue restaurant- Carter Brothers- and we came back and all had the best Barbecue in the south and now my DH is napping, and the rest of us are having some coffee and watching T.V. and just hanging out. My MIL- Kate is the sweetest, kindest, mother-in-law any one could ever have. It's always a joy to have her come to visit for a few days. I think we might watch a good movie tonight.
On Saturday, October 25th, my daughter, my sister- Marcia, my niece, my nephew, and I all went to the "25th Annual Lexington Barbecue Festival", in
Lexinginton, N.C. We had the best time we had had in a long time together! The first photo at the left- is my nephew, holding a wooden monkey face drink holder he bought- which he can keep &
it's a piggy bank- after you take the cup out.
Photo #2 is my sister and I standing together, we were listening to- Eddie Miles- an Elvis Impersonator- he really sings a lot like Elvis and he surely dressed the part- he had on a black studded outfit & was doing a whole lot of shaking LOL!!! It turned out to be a beautiful sunny afternoon, and the Festival had 4 stages set up, with music for everyone's taste. They had plenty of barbecue, funnel cakes, gyros, polish sausages with peppers and onions- all smothered on buns, &
candy apples, and all the great foods you'd expect
at a Festival.
They had all kinds of great handmade crafts- birdhouses, jewelery, baskets, blankets, Bob Timberlake Paintings, Halloween signs, painted gourds, tye-dyed shirts, wooden trays, bowls, platters, tables, stained glass, blown glass, you name it and they had it!
Photo #3 is another photo that my daughter took of my sister and I .
Photo #4 is my nephew-Austin just acting silly for my daughter, when she took his photo- and that's his sister Madison behind him- giving him, the evil eye,LOL!!! Madison is older than him- she gives him a hard time.
In photo #5 my daughter was saying-"Look up at the camera Madison."-LOL!!! Madison was like- whatever- I don't think so.
LOL!!! I told you we have a great sense of humor- my sister was showing it here in this photo #6- and Madison & Austin look like- O.K.- mom is totally embarissing us.
I love this one- my sister is so funny, we both will
just do this in public, at a Festival- and the kids are
totally freaking embarissed LOL!!!
Photo #7-Yay!!! we finally have an actual sign of life from Madison & Austin- she is giving him that look again.
Heehee!!!
Photo #8 is of of a sand sculpture- I think these are really great. The work that goes into the making of these sand sculptures is amazing to me.
Photo #9 is another of the sand sculpture- of course it is of pigs, because it's the Barbecue Festival, and the 25 on it is for the 25th year. This
was the 25th year Lexington had held the annual Festival. It is a very popular hit here in N.C. It usually draws a crowd of about 150,000 people every year.
Photo # 10- Beautiful blue skies and balloons nice fall weather, crowds of happy people, lots of music, good food, what a great way to spend a Saturday with your family!!!
The fireworks were the last thing- the "Chairmen Of The Board"- played for an hour and a half, until 9pm. They really put on a great music performance and the crowds sang and danced. Then, at 9pm they had a terrific fireworks display. I have more photos, but here are just a couple.
Then, below the fireworks- the photo of the greyhound we loved, they had several greyhounds there and were raising money to help save and rescue greyhounds.
The photo below the greyhound is- men dressed as *The Pink Ladies*- they were raising money as a church fundraiser, we thought they were a hoot LOL!!! We just had to get a photo of them!!!
The next photo- is "The Candy Factory", it is still in business and fully operational, they make and sell candy and this store is so neat- it has old antiques and memoriabila all throughout the store, I love the inside and out of this candy store.
And, the last photo- is just a photo of the baloons showing 25, signifying the 25 years the festival was celebrating. We sure did have a great day and evening, didn't get home until about 11pm.
I have just finished 2 nights of 12 hour shifts at work, got off at 8am Thursday morning, stopped by the grocery store on the way home, picked up some nice Ribeye steaks and a few other items- came home and made a few phone calls, and went to bed for a nice long sleep. When I got up from sleeping, we had a nice steak dinner, then watched a movie- (The Contract)- with Morgan Freeman, and had some coffee. My daughter, Jenni is still here visiting, we have been having a really nice time together-( in between my work schedule) and visiting family, and going out to eat, and going to Starbucks for coffee, renting movies and hanging out.
I wish she and her boyfriend would just move out here and settle down, it would be wonderful to have Jenni and Victor living here near my DH and I. I think they both could find suitable jobs here, and the cost of living is so much less than it is in Long Beach, California.
I found out last night, from my aunt Claudine that her sister- (And my friend from childhood)- Patricia's cancer has returned, and it is stage 4- she is terminal, the cancer has spread to her liver, lungs, and up her neck. She had already had surgery and chemo about a year ago, and she had been going back and forth for rechecks, and just never did feel well again. I am sad over this, I had been writing and sending her cards of encouragement, and calling her- (She didn't want me to come to see her in person). I told my aunt Claudine, that I wanted to do something for Patricia, and my aunt told me- she thought if I came up to her house, and she road with me to Patricia's house, she would let us both in now, I'm going to try it- and see if she will. (Sorry, I'm just downright saddened over this...)
My niece, Maddie who plays in the Marching Band- for Trinity High School, great news!!!- the Marching Band has won a ton of Trophys in competitions in the past few weeks!!!
My nephew, Mason- who is now in kindergarten, is on a little soccer team, and they have been winning their games- Mason really has fun playing soccer & making new friends, Oh!!!- and he has 3 little girl friends
LOL!!! One little girl even gave him a kiss on the cheek and held his hand at the soccer game- his mom and I laughed untiled we about cracked up!!!!
I haven't lost any more weight- but I haven't gained any either. I've kind of been eating a little more since Jenni came home to visit, and had a few more Starbucks coffees than I should, Heehee!!!! I'll get back on the right track, I've came to far to stop now that's for sure.
Well, that's about it, and I'll try to catch up with you my friends- I'm sorry I've gotten behind on reading and checking your blogs, I'll stop by soon :)
Hi everyone. My daughter came home on Monday, she flew in to the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, and I drove down and picked her up. What a delight to see her!!! I haven't saw her since the week after Easter. We had a great drive back home, we stopped and got a bite to eat, and of course we had to go by a StarBucks and get us some coffee on the drive home, we talked and laughed, and jammed to some music. When we got to the house, my husband was so happy to see Jenni. We all stayed up late talking and catching up. Then the next 2 nights, Tuesday and Wednesday- I had to work 12 hour shifts, so Jenni hung out at the house with her dad and the kitties.
Tonight we went over to my sister, Marcia's house, and my other sister and her 2 children came down from Pilot Mountain, and we all ordered pizza and hung out with my sisters and my 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Jenni and I had a great time with all of them, the kids were really happy to see her, as well as my sisters. I
think she is going to be visiting for a couple of weeks.
I am one happy mom right now!!! I sure am enjoying my daughters visit!!!
Have a great week ahead everyone!!!
Man, have I been busy- I don't know if I'm coming or going half the time lately. Saturday, I was up at 5:45am getting ready for work, then drove 45 minutes to the clients home, worked there until 1pm, then drove 50 minutes to my sister, Marcia's house to ride to Pilot Mountain with her and her family, we were going to my niece, Riley's birthday party, she turned 1 on Saturday. We got lost, my sister, Holly has just moved up there, and we had the wrong directions, so- we had to call them on the cell phone, finally got there. We all had a great time, Riley and all the kids had a blast, she was having a great time digging into a small cake, just for her, and we all had some cake from another one and ice cream. We all hung out pretty late, I didn't get home until about 11:30pm that night. I was dog tired, but it was fun!!!
Then, Sunday morning, I was up at 6am, getting ready to go to work, and then a 40 minute drive to client's home, stayed with this one until 1pm- worked like a mad woman, didn't get one second to catch my breath.
Left here at 1pm, drove 40 minutes back to town, went to the grocery store, bought 2 weeks worth of groceries, brought them home, brought them in, put them away, finally sit down and rested about an hour- then headed out for second client's home for the evening, drove 20 minutes to get there, worked with this client until 10pm, then drove the 20 minutes back home. I just came in and flopped down in a chair, told my DH I was done for the day and propped my feet up and finally relaxed a little.
Monday, I was off so, I cleaned the house from top to bottom and cooked my husband and I a nice dinner, I didn't leave the house, I was so happy to be home all day.
Today, I was up at 6am getting ready for work, only had to drive 8 miles today, worked from 9am until 3pm with client, then I went and had a new set of tires put on my car, that took about an hour- and I'm good to go on tires now for a while. Then, I came home- told my husband we were having turkey sandwiches on whole wheat and soup tonight, he smiled and said- "You've done so much lately, that sounds fine with me."
Oh....How sweet that was to hear him say that, I love that little rascal- he's getting sweeter by the day.
The past week has been a good one! I worked second shift Monday through Friday, and Saturday & Sunday I worked first shift. I enjoyed the client I worked with very much, it was a joy, and I had such a nice
time doing my job. My sister, Marcia and her children came over to visit one day, we had a very good visit- I love her and my niece and nephew so much- they just brighten my life and make my day- whenever I get to spend time with them. Jenni is doing good, she is still liking her job, and she and I talk often. My husband and I are getting along so well, he has really been a sweetheart lately. I enjoy spending time with him again!!! I was off work today, so- I did the laundry, folded it, dusted, vacuumed, went to the Post Office and the store, then came home and relaxed this evening- I sat out and watched the sun set, and it was quite beautiful.
I hope you all have a great week ahead!!!!
