I just finished reading the book- "The Shack'. This book has had the most wonderful effect on me, I have
never had a fiction book that had such a powerful message as this one about-- how truly close of a relationship we can really have with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. If you aren't as close to Them as your best friend--I urge you to read this book, I promise you, you won't be sorry.
This is how we spent our Thanksgiving Last Sunday, we celebrated early at my sister, Marcia"s house. We
all had a nice dinner together, made a pot of coffee, and decided to shoot some pool. The first photo is of my nephew, Austin sitting on the pool table- he's a hoot! The second photo is my sister showing her niece,
Samantha how to shoot pool, she is the cutest little girl, and she talks like a pixy/fairy- she takes ballet, and is a little dancer. The 3rd photo is my daughter, Samantha, and myself. The 4th photo is of my sister and myself. The 5th photo is Austin in his- pimp daddy hat,LOL!!! That's what my daughter laughs and calls it. And, the last photo is of my niece, Maddie- the guitar/piano/ and saxophone player. We spent the whole day together and had the best time/ I love my family and spending time with them, they are the greatest.

In the past 18 days, I have only worked 30 hours. There has'nt been any work at my office, we have 260 employees and many have more tenure than I. As you know, we take care of elderly clients in their homes,
so that they may remain at home as long as possible. Many are very sick or have dementia, or both. It is natural and will come to all of us one day- but several have passed away recently, some have had to be moved into skilled nursing- decisions their families had to make, and some have done well- and no longer need our care.
I have went to the Office in Lexington,N.C.- and applied with their office also, hoping I can work for the one in Greensboro and Lexington. So, far I haven't gotten any new clients to care for. The ones I were caring for on a regular basis- One in Greensboro, she recovered enough that she no longer needed me on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 8pm to 8am- because she was doing very well walking with her walker. The couple I was caring for- well, their daughters decided that their parents were just becoming to sick , and on this Monday past- they moved them into an assisted living center. And, my sweet Friday client, is very sick in the hospital at this time. I am keeping her in my prayers- and miss her a lot.
I am thinking about going to take some more classes, I called the community college today to check on some. I am praying some work will come through soon, I have got to get some hours in - I'm like everyone else, bills have to be paid, groceries have to be bought, you need gas to get around, and these things aren't free.
I am still very blessed, and I'm sure something will come through soon.
I have just finished 2 nights of 12 hour shifts at work, got off at 8am Thursday morning, stopped by the grocery store on the way home, picked up some nice Ribeye steaks and a few other items- came home and made a few phone calls, and went to bed for a nice long sleep. When I got up from sleeping, we had a nice steak dinner, then watched a movie- (The Contract)- with Morgan Freeman, and had some coffee. My daughter, Jenni is still here visiting, we have been having a really nice time together-( in between my work schedule) and visiting family, and going out to eat, and going to Starbucks for coffee, renting movies and hanging out.
I wish she and her boyfriend would just move out here and settle down, it would be wonderful to have Jenni and Victor living here near my DH and I. I think they both could find suitable jobs here, and the cost of living is so much less than it is in Long Beach, California.
I found out last night, from my aunt Claudine that her sister- (And my friend from childhood)- Patricia's cancer has returned, and it is stage 4- she is terminal, the cancer has spread to her liver, lungs, and up her neck. She had already had surgery and chemo about a year ago, and she had been going back and forth for rechecks, and just never did feel well again. I am sad over this, I had been writing and sending her cards of encouragement, and calling her- (She didn't want me to come to see her in person). I told my aunt Claudine, that I wanted to do something for Patricia, and my aunt told me- she thought if I came up to her house, and she road with me to Patricia's house, she would let us both in now, I'm going to try it- and see if she will. (Sorry, I'm just downright saddened over this...)
My niece, Maddie who plays in the Marching Band- for Trinity High School, great news!!!- the Marching Band has won a ton of Trophys in competitions in the past few weeks!!!
My nephew, Mason- who is now in kindergarten, is on a little soccer team, and they have been winning their games- Mason really has fun playing soccer & making new friends, Oh!!!- and he has 3 little girl friends
LOL!!! One little girl even gave him a kiss on the cheek and held his hand at the soccer game- his mom and I laughed untiled we about cracked up!!!!
I haven't lost any more weight- but I haven't gained any either. I've kind of been eating a little more since Jenni came home to visit, and had a few more Starbucks coffees than I should, Heehee!!!! I'll get back on the right track, I've came to far to stop now that's for sure.
Well, that's about it, and I'll try to catch up with you my friends- I'm sorry I've gotten behind on reading and checking your blogs, I'll stop by soon :)
Hi everyone. My daughter came home on Monday, she flew in to the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, and I drove down and picked her up. What a delight to see her!!! I haven't saw her since the week after Easter. We had a great drive back home, we stopped and got a bite to eat, and of course we had to go by a StarBucks and get us some coffee on the drive home, we talked and laughed, and jammed to some music. When we got to the house, my husband was so happy to see Jenni. We all stayed up late talking and catching up. Then the next 2 nights, Tuesday and Wednesday- I had to work 12 hour shifts, so Jenni hung out at the house with her dad and the kitties.
Tonight we went over to my sister, Marcia's house, and my other sister and her 2 children came down from Pilot Mountain, and we all ordered pizza and hung out with my sisters and my 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Jenni and I had a great time with all of them, the kids were really happy to see her, as well as my sisters. I
think she is going to be visiting for a couple of weeks.
I am one happy mom right now!!! I sure am enjoying my daughters visit!!!
Have a great week ahead everyone!!!
First, let me say- All of you who are in Texas or in the path of Hurricane *Ike*, You are in my prayers!!!
I haven't been around in a while, I pulled a 12 hour shift last night in an assisted living center, and I have been very busy working and taking care of things at home.
I have a new schedule as of today, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays I will be working 8pm- 8am shifts, then I'll have Thursdays off, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays I will work 5 hour shifts. This will be my ongoing schedule as long as these clients need our services.
I am so blessed to have my job!!! I really enjoy doing it, and how often do we get up and look forward to going to work? I look forward to going , I enjoy caring for the elderly and being their friend, it's great.
I Have now lost 130 pounds!!!! Yay!!! I am feeling so much healthier, and have so much more energy, I can go like a freight train now LOL!!!
I went shopping with my sister, Marcia the other afternoon, and we had a blast!!! Oak Hollow Mall here in High Point is up for sale, and half the stores have already closed and moved out, and the rest had great sales going on, we got some great deals!!! I bought 4 new shirts and 2 new pairs of pants at Belks- and I got 200 dollars worth of clothes for 31 dollars, tax included!!! My sister got about 10 pair of capris, 10 shirts, and 4 shirts, that would have cost her a fortune, and she only spent about 100 dollars!!! We had so much fun looking through clothes and talking, and trying stuff on.
Hey- I actually look half way decent now in new clothes that fit LOL!!!
Bad News- This morning gas was 3.55 a gallon on my way home. My sister called today while I was sleeping and told us to check out the news stations- because of the hurricane coming into Texas, gas had gone up throughout the day to 6.00 a gallon, and people were waiting in line over an hour to fill up, then fights started breaking out at the pumps at some stations. People were panicing to get gas, and the Govenor- finally called for a halt to price gouging.
Is this happening in other states too? I live in North Carolina.
Man, have I been busy- I don't know if I'm coming or going half the time lately. Saturday, I was up at 5:45am getting ready for work, then drove 45 minutes to the clients home, worked there until 1pm, then drove 50 minutes to my sister, Marcia's house to ride to Pilot Mountain with her and her family, we were going to my niece, Riley's birthday party, she turned 1 on Saturday. We got lost, my sister, Holly has just moved up there, and we had the wrong directions, so- we had to call them on the cell phone, finally got there. We all had a great time, Riley and all the kids had a blast, she was having a great time digging into a small cake, just for her, and we all had some cake from another one and ice cream. We all hung out pretty late, I didn't get home until about 11:30pm that night. I was dog tired, but it was fun!!!
Then, Sunday morning, I was up at 6am, getting ready to go to work, and then a 40 minute drive to client's home, stayed with this one until 1pm- worked like a mad woman, didn't get one second to catch my breath.
Left here at 1pm, drove 40 minutes back to town, went to the grocery store, bought 2 weeks worth of groceries, brought them home, brought them in, put them away, finally sit down and rested about an hour- then headed out for second client's home for the evening, drove 20 minutes to get there, worked with this client until 10pm, then drove the 20 minutes back home. I just came in and flopped down in a chair, told my DH I was done for the day and propped my feet up and finally relaxed a little.
Monday, I was off so, I cleaned the house from top to bottom and cooked my husband and I a nice dinner, I didn't leave the house, I was so happy to be home all day.
Today, I was up at 6am getting ready for work, only had to drive 8 miles today, worked from 9am until 3pm with client, then I went and had a new set of tires put on my car, that took about an hour- and I'm good to go on tires now for a while. Then, I came home- told my husband we were having turkey sandwiches on whole wheat and soup tonight, he smiled and said- "You've done so much lately, that sounds fine with me."
Oh....How sweet that was to hear him say that, I love that little rascal- he's getting sweeter by the day.
The past week has been a good one! I worked second shift Monday through Friday, and Saturday & Sunday I worked first shift. I enjoyed the client I worked with very much, it was a joy, and I had such a nice
time doing my job. My sister, Marcia and her children came over to visit one day, we had a very good visit- I love her and my niece and nephew so much- they just brighten my life and make my day- whenever I get to spend time with them. Jenni is doing good, she is still liking her job, and she and I talk often. My husband and I are getting along so well, he has really been a sweetheart lately. I enjoy spending time with him again!!! I was off work today, so- I did the laundry, folded it, dusted, vacuumed, went to the Post Office and the store, then came home and relaxed this evening- I sat out and watched the sun set, and it was quite beautiful.
I hope you all have a great week ahead!!!!
I have been very busy lately, I have been working first shift on some days, and second shift on other days, and working in Greensboro on some days, and in Thomasville on other days. I have been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off LOL!!! I am basically on call now from 6am- 6:30pm. If the office hasn't called by 6:30pm, then I am off the rest of the night. I am still with the same company, I'm still a caregiver, but- I decided about 2 weeks ago, that I could no longer stay with the client I had been with for about the past 9 months, so my office has been shifting me around, which is fine with me, I like working with different people, and meeting new ones, also. It's a lot more interesting staying with different people and spending time with them, and getting to know them- it's refreshing and pleasant.
I hope all of you are doing well, and I'll try to catch up with you soon.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!
