How and when do you reward yourself?
Submitted by Rainbird.
When I'm feeling absolutely burnt out and feel like I need some me time, I go to StarBucks, and get myself a nice Large Mocha Latte with whip cream on top with chocolate drizzled over it, and go to the park and sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quite. I do this about once a month.
What do you find interesting or unique about your family history?
On my dad's side of the family, we have a family store that has been run by our family for 50 years. My grandpa and grandma ran the store until they retired, then my uncle, my dad's brother, and his wife took over and have been running the store ever since, and still own and run it today, in Mt. Airy N.C. It's *Simmons Grocery*, and this store holds so many wonderful memories for me, because when I was a little girl, we lived in a house beside the store, and I would walk up to the store every day, and spend time there with my grandparents.
Now, I have memories, also of going and visiting my uncle and aunt at the store, I used to take my daughter up to visit a lot when she was young, and she has these fond memories, also.
I still enjoy going up to the store to visit my uncle and aunt at the family store, and as soon as I pull in the parking lot- the memories just fill my mind, and an over-whelming sense of love just fills my whole being. There has been so much laughter and joyous times, and days in that store- it's just a large piece of our family history.
What does blogging do for you?
Submitted by Madeleine Rose.
Blogging has gave me a chance to meet new friends. It gives me a place to share my daily life, family photos, read others great posts and look at their great photos, and it helps me share my faith. I like to blog after work, it helps me wind down and relax. It's a place where I can go and just relax and be me and enjoy all of you, my friends.

What are some of the best(and worst) things about summer?
Submitted by L33tchica.
The best things about summer are going swimming at my sister's house and spending time with her, and her family. We also have great cook-outs and get togethers in the summer. I love the sunny skies, the flowers, birds, geese honking, owls whooing, frogs croaking, fishing, going to ride go-carts with nieces and nephews. I love going to the beach or the mountains. I enjoy sitting on the patio in the mornings with a nice cup of coffee.
The worst things about summer, I don't like storms, can't take the heat, getting into a blazing hot car, sweating right after you've showered and you're on your way to work, I don't like tornadoes, not having enough time to do the things you love about summer, and going to a water park or Carowinds and having to stand in line for an hour just to ride a ride that is going to be over in a minute and a half.
If you knew you were about to lose your voice permanently, what is the last thing you would want to say?

I'd tell my family- they better keep me supplied with plenty of paper and pens, so I can keep writing what I want to say- or I'll kick their butts LOL!!!
How many houses have you lived in? How is where you live now different from where you grew up?
As a child living with my parents, when they split up off and on, we lived in 15 different houses by the time I was 15.
I married my husband when I was 18, and since then, we have lived in 4 different places in 27 years.
Where we live now is very different from the houses we lived in when I was growing up. We live in a new Town- House that is handicapped designed, because my husband is very sick and housebound. Our place has showers with built in seats and rails for handicapped people, and they are all one story. They have 14 foot high ceilings, a fireplace, they are energy efficient. They have nice large patios behind each one. They have open floor plans, lots of closet space, lots of cabinets, and lots of plug-ins, and tilt in windows- yay!!! I love tilt in windows, so easy to clean. They're nothing like the houses we used to live in when I was a child, not enough cabinet space, not enough closet space, not enough plug-ins, no high ceilings, not energy efficient, and NO tilt in windows back then either.

What was your biggest cooking disaster?
I had Christmas dinner at our home for 25 years, we would have my sisters and their families, my mom, her husband, and my husband's family over-- we usually had about 20-25 people over on Christmas Day for dinner. I always cooked a ham and a turkey. I always cooked a Lundy saltly ham, this is what my grandma made always when I was young, I had driven to Mt. Airy previously in the past to get the hams, but this particular year, I called around to try to find one close by. I called a meat company and the man assured me- oh, yes we have the Lundy hams, I told him I would come by and pick one up. My husband and I drove up to the meat company and my husband went in to get the ham, I wanted one that weighed about 25 pounds. My husband came out with it, and I looked in the box, but it was wrapped so that I really couldn't tell, it just looked like a big ham. We took it home and Christmas morning, I got it out to put it in to cook, and I thought it looked different, it just didn't look like a Lundy ham, it looked like a large pork roast, I went ahead and prepared it to be put into the oven to cook, and as it was cooking, I noticed it smelled like a pork roast, not a Lundy ham- I started complaining to my husband, I told him- This is not a ham, it has to be a large pork roast, because I can tell by the smell. Sure enough, when it was done- NO HAM- we ended up with a dry, tasteless pork roast instead of our traditional and beloved Lundy ham. Thank goodness, I had also cooked a 21 pound turkey. My sisters laughed, they got a hoot out of that one, I had wanted my salty ham so much, and had looked forward to it all year, and ended up with a stupid dried out pork roast,LOL!!!
I called the owner of the meat company after Christmas, and told him I would never buy anything from him again, because he knew he gave me a large pork roast, instead of a Lundy ham.
Who was the meanest teacher you had in school?
My first grade teacher, Miss Owens, I was a shy, scared child because of my parents fighting all the time, and I was a thumb sucker. Miss Owens would take my thumb out of my mouth every time she saw me with it in my mouth, and slap the fire out of my hands with a ruler, and tell me to stop doing that.
